About LEGO Colors

INTRODUCTION
Calibrick stocks a variety of LEGOTM parts and sets, ranging in age from the 1950s to this year. Over time, The LEGOTM Group (TLGTM) has introduced color variations as they transition plastics, embrace environmentally-conscious additives, and improve production methods. Simply put, today's plastic is not 1954's plastic. TLGTM has also deliberately transitioned color tones of their core grays, among other colors.
There are great resources online for customers interested in the history of LEGOTM colors, including "A Brief History of LEGOTM Colors" by Ryan Howerter and "The Changing Palette of LEGOTM: 1975-2014" by Brothers Brick, among other sites.
Please review the sections below to understand how Calibrick handles color variations for your orders.
Whites
Older hues feature pink undertones. The plastic is flat, lacking the lustrous glossy look of modern bricks and plates. See the images below for an example.
NEW parts are modern. While most USED items we stock are modern, we so also carry older parts. Even within the same production year, there are natural shade variations. If matching shading is critical to your build and you only need a handful, we highly recommend you buy only NEW parts in volume from a single seller (many of our peers on Brickowl carry these; we do not). For smaller amounts in a particular hue, please contact us to ensure our stock meets your needs.
While we make every attempt to ensure parts within a single order match each other, we cannot guarantee that they will.
Regrettably, we cannot refund your order if parts we deliver do not match your desired hue as we do not sort by production year and have no way to compare our stock to your build.
Reds, Blues, Greens, Blacks, and Yellows
Similar to white, these colors have undergone changes over time. All four were once flat and paler then today's more vibrant, glossy shades.
NEW parts are modern. While most USED items we stock are modern, we so also carry older parts. If you are seeking a specific hue, we recommend contacting us so we can ensure our stock meets your needs. See the images below for an example.

Grays
In 2004, LEGOTM transitioned their Dark Gray and Light Gray colors to Dark Stone Gray and Medium Stone Gray. See the images below for an example.
Your proprietors are older Adult Fans of LEGOTM (AFOLs), and our eyesight just isn't as amazing as we would like to think.
99.9 percent of the time, you will receive the gray variation you requested (pre-2004 or today's). We are human though; on occasion, we will have mis-sorted those light grays/medium stone grays, particularly when it comes to Technic pins.
If this sneaks through our quality check and gets to you, please contact us. We promise to speedily resolve the situation to your satisfaction!
